Wimbledon is in full swing this week and LIFE magazine recaptures some great moments of tennis past.
I've been one of the "ladies who lunch" before. Don't look up the urban dictionary term for that, it's not very flattering :) They're really the interesting, active women who go out to lunch together after a long morning of tennis matches on a hot June morning.
My favorite lunch to refuel after those busy mornings was this:
- Wild-caught grilled salmon, tilapia, or flounder - lean protein to help my muscles recover after running rampant from chasing balls all over the court.
- Sweet potato or wild rice mix - healthy carbohydrate to replenish depleted blood sugar stores used by my tired muscles.
- Dark green salad with plenty of tomatoes, broccoli, avocado, strawberries & watermelon - foods with > 80% water content. It's not just water that counts as fluid. These foods with high water content count too.
- Water with plenty of ice. Water is the basis of all of our biochemical reactions, including digestion & metabolism. Adding the ice helps to burn more calories too.
Stay active, my friends.
