My girl crush with Salma Hayek began when I first watched her in the movie, Frida.
There, it's been said.
Milk is a perfect after exercise drink (for both endurance & resistance training) because it has just the right amount of:
- Carbohydrates to replenish what was used during exercise.
- Protein to minimize small muscle tears & to stimulate new muscle growth.
- Fluid and electrolytes to help you get rehydrated.
*I'm talking about cow's milk here. As far as milk goes, soy milk is the next best choice.
*For recreational exercisers (most of us), including the weekend 5K runners, about half a glass is enough to get the recovery process started.
*Go with 1% (lowfat) or skim and enjoy ALL of milk's health benefits without the extra unwanted fat..if you live near a Braum's Dairy Store, they have one of the best tasting lowfat milks around.
*After a really hard workout, like after an hour of long distance running, cycling or swimming, drink chocolate lowfat milk, another just right - mix of fluid, carbohydrate, and protein to help you recover.
