The movie - Blue Jasmine, it's a tad on the stressful side for these sisters. Jasmine and Ginger are going through some growing pains and they could use a little food mood boosting.
I love jasmine (check). I adore ginger (double that check). Then it's time to make some delicious eats to help them out.
You do get that the sisters names are Jasmine and Ginger, right? Did I make that clear as mud?
First up for mood boosting: jasmine
Whip up some jasmine rice for dinner. It's flavor and fragrance is comparable to the more expensive rice. The scent can cause a significant decrease in our heart rate which calms our nerves and our mood. I read it so it must be true.
I tossed in some leftover black beans and butternut squash then toasted a bit of coconut and tossed it in. And I never need a reason to pair something with a good egg. I just don't.
Next is ginger:
Make your own ginger syrup, the fragrance in your kitchen alone is enough to make you and anyone you admire to feel better.
Homemade Ginger Syrup
1 cup water
1.5 cups grated and sliced fresh ginger
2 cups sugar
Grate and slice fresh ginger. On medium heat, add a pot with the water and sugar, stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add in the sliced ginger and simmer on low to medium heat for 30 minutes. Allow to slightly cool and strain the syrup. Pour syrup into a sealed container and keep in fridge for up to one month. You can save the strained ginger slices and mix with sugar if you want.
Ginger Green Tea
Then boil 2 cups water. Grab a pretty cup, add 1 small green tea bag, lemon slices, pour 2-3 tablespoons of ginger syrup and add boiled water. Wha-la.
Share these with your friend(s) who you know needs to dump that guy she's upset about but you have a do-not-actually-tell-her-that-yet policy.
